A password protected PAGE couldn't be opened in IE7 and IE8

It's working in Firefox, Chrome and Opera without any problems.

I've tried to reproduce this, and havn't been able to.

I've tried 2 different machines with IE, no problems with the default twentyten theme.

Unfortunately, This sounds like a browser bug that isn't something that can be fixed in WordPress.

Sounds like buggy cookie support of some sort.

Potentially boils down to the issue posted by rvoodoo in the linked support thread -

in settings general, my blog url was ​http://www.rvoodoo.com

my wordpress address was just rvoodoo.com
(no www)

In other words, mismatched URLs, probably leading to ineffective cookies.
