Description
As the title says, it is deprecated for a long time now, see [4339].

Well, like with other deprecated stuff, it's moved out from time to time. Benefit is to remove dead code.

Just out of curiosity Peter, how long do you maintain backwards compatibility?

This file like the feed files in the root serves as Backwards compatibility code with very old sites.
I don't see a huge benefit in deleting this file.
