In the name of scalability and utility, I've designed some new icons for the admin. The ones we have now are cool, but scaling them for different OS's/contexts and establishing an easy system for others to make them is very challenging. Furthermore, we are starting to introduce flatter, simpler icons in top level adminbar and right now things seem disjunctive. menu.png and icons32.png would go in the wp-admin/images folder (sorry I'm clueless as to how to submit this as a patch :( ) I've also attached a suggestion for revising background graphics/typography to improve the clarity of the icons, so let's discuss that as it would need some css changes.
