Description
On wp-admin/options-writing.php we see Post via e-mail Default Mail Category. Well OK, but there should also be a way to specify the category right there in the mail. A magic keyword or something: ###Category: Nurds###, [[Category:Nurds]] or something.
By the way, don't you want to say "Default posting category" instead of "Default mail category"?
Change History
- Summary changed from Post via e-mail's Category: all specification inside the mail too to Post via e-mail's Category: allow specification from inside the mail too
I see in http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_to_your_blog_using_email some hacks to do this have popped up. So we see the need...

- Milestone changed from 2.8 to Future Release
Pushing due to schedule. Can evaluate in next release cycle.
- Keywords needs-patch added
suggesting wontfix/plugin material
- Keywords needs-patch removed
- Status changed from new to closed
- Resolution set to wontfix
- Milestone Future Release deleted
With the post by email core plugin ramping up, and the previous suggestion to leave this plugin territory. I am giving it a -1 and closing as wontfix.
