schedule a revision to publish without unpublishing existing content

Description

Boy, it sure would be swell if I could take an existing post/page, edit the content or add tags/custom terms, and then schedule that revision to be published later, without unpublishing the previous revision.

Other people think it would be cool too...

  • Version set to trunk

This is an interesting idea. This is related to ticket #23314 because currently WordPress does not offer a way to save changes to a published post without updating the published post. Once that ticket gets a fix your issue would be easier to resolve. The 'Save as Draft' button suggested in the other ticket could offer a publish later feature - create a revision, then schedule a restore of that revision at the time you set.

Thanks for your suggestion!

  • Keywords needs-patch added
  • Milestone Future Release deleted
  • Resolution set to maybelater
  • Status changed from new to closed

I think at this point this is plugin territory, and there's a general lack of interest on this ticket. Closing as maybelater
