the_post_image - interface should show which image to choose

This might be something that you guys are already looking at, but I couldn't see any ticket, so here goes:

the_post_image is one image (out of a few that might be associated with a post), but the current interface doesn't show a way for the users to specify in the gallery interface which of the images is the one representing the image (it should not always be the first image, and it should not only be set through the theme).

Ideally this should be some radio button like option - like:
make this "the post image"
You might want to add a little (help) link with more information about what this means and why should people care.

Ok, I realized you actually need to state the support for the feature to be able to use it. After doing that I can see the interface.
