Description
In conjunction with the 3.0 release, I think a new layout for the main wordpress.org site would be in order.

Pleae make codex more useable
By replacing the damn wiki software.. its a PITA. I'd love for it to be replaced with a WordPress powered Wiki, but every wiki plugin out there i can find either breaks with each release, or is no longer updated.

Mediawiki is very OK afaik, it's the config on codex.wordpress.org which is a PITA.

Do we have any idea if the WP.org main site will be re-designed? I have seen ExpressionEngine, vBulletin, IPB and others re-design their website recently with their newest major software releases. Will WP be doing something similar?

They've already changed from the darker colour to the new lighter colour (same as you can see in WP 3.0) you can currently see when you visit WordPress.org - As for layout, well, I'm not sure!

I'm closing this ticket because we're doing a number of wordpress.org site design improvements during the 3.org cycle, but it will be incremental, not something that would be one big project able to be mark 'resolved' at a specific point. @markmcwilliams mentioned the lighter header already, and we'll be working on the navigation/structure as well as page layout and content in the next month or two.
Pleae make codex more useable. Most formattings do not work and helper macros are inconsistent.
