on my blog, I am no cowboy.
as for the spam bot, best I know is he spams thousands of sites at a time, so as to reduce his rate of spam on individual sites.
Maybe reduce the threshold to 5s rather than 15s? Based on my logs, 5s is enough to eliminate script kiddies. whereas 15-min would be more appropriate for the more clueful spammers.
