Description

Usually, a link to wordpress.org is available in the theme's footer.

Won't be needing the same link in Meta widget. Perhaps move it to the default blogroll. Or delete it?

I disagree with this. Footer links are the arena of the theme, while the meta widget is core. It's easy enough for people to remove the meta widget. Recommend closing wontfix.

jane,

While u have a point there, but why place WordPress.org link under Meta Widget? Shouldn't it placed under Links> Blogroll like any other WordPress related links (during installs)?

If people were to remove the Meta widget because of the link, but how can people use the 'log in / log out' link, RSS feeds link that exists along under the Meta widget? Download new Widget? Modify the core? This widget lacks option to customize.

My suggestion is 3 separate widget:

Meta
*wp_register()
*wp_loginout()
*wp_meta()

RSS Feeds
*RSS Feed
*Comments RSS Feed

...and moved the WordPress.org link to default blogroll.

tqvm.
