Something must have happened around WordPress 2.8 or just above. On my blog, which has been happily humming along for over 6 months at WP MU 2.8 and above (now 2.9.2), I just noticed that the wrong theme appeared selected on the Themes page. In addition, and this is why I noticed it, a dropdown of Page templates was not appearing on the Page edit page. To fix this, I just had to activate my current theme on the Themes page. However, whatever is causing this bug should be fixed.

This has been discussed ​here and ​here. There is also a Note ​here describing the same issue, but this seems like an obvious bug to me and should not occur in the first place. Can this be fixed?
