22> Why not simply add an option to disable the Gravatar system?
3 Problem is it being enabled by default and the privacy downside is not disclosed by WordPress.  Discussing with non devs they have no clue about this issue, heck even wp devs know about this issue to any large extent. The commentators on sites also dont know about this issue. Some WP folks has replied that users can just use fake email if it bothers them but such answers are completely useless since they do not solve the issue also only available for those that know about the Gravatar issue in the first place.
