Looks like a vestige that hasn't been touched since pre-crazyhorse.

QuickPress and Press This succeed any purpose it once had.

This was the fastest way to post in a super-low bandwidth environment (no JS, no styles, super small footprint). I believe it is used by some "live bloggers" when blogging from an event with limited bandwidth/bad Internet connectivity.

@azaozz Thanks for the note about super-low bandwidth posting. I am working on a quick-press revision and I will try to make it easy to post in low bandwidth situations.
