Tags Display Scales Poorly on Posts List

Description

Posts that have more than more than 30 or so tags take up multiple screens worth of space on the posts list. This format serves no useful purpose, and actually forces users to scroll around just to find the next post in the Edit Posts list.

Tags display should be limited to perhaps 10 at most, or displayed in an overflow div for sanity.

  • Keywords close added

Or you could just hide the tags column altogether from the screen options.

That's a good tip, scribu.

Still, it is visually and functionally useless to show any long tag lists there by default. It's not that I want to hide them, I just don't want them taking up the whole screen.

  • Milestone changed from Awaiting Review to Future Release

Not sure there's a good way to handle this -- which tags would be shown if you don't show all of them? If you're really using that many tags, chances are the entire column is useless anyway as it's just information overload.

When in quick edit view, the lists of categories and tags have scroll bars. That's one option. I notice also that no matter how many columns I remove from view, the tags column stays the same width. There are other columns I'd rather hide, but only the title column has dynamic width.

  • Milestone Future Release deleted
  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Going to close as wontfix, as most users don't have this problem.
