Description

when changing screen option in new post/page to number of columns 1 and again to number of columns to 2 it is not responding properly.
After changing the no of columns cannot restore to original (2 columns )layout.

tried in WordPress RC4 with firefox and chrome in linux

Works for me.

Could be broken JS on the page. Or, what's happening is the second column is opening back up, but you need to then move the meta boxes back into it.

Just updated to WordPress 3.1 and bug persists. After accidentally clicking single column in Screen Options, switched immediately back 2 columns and post boxes did not restore. The second column is there, empty. Had to move the desired boxes back in place.

This has always been the case. See #13476. Also #14423 which proposes a solution.
