#16634 closed feature request (wontfix)

Option to remove new top admin bar

Description

That new admin bar that appears at the top when one views their site is super annoying and honestly serves no useful purpose but to add filler and bloat to my Wordpress blog. Such things make Wordpress to creep into the unsimplicity and popup-crazyiness that Drupal has become.

I just altered something in my functions file to get rid of the new admin bar, but Wordpress really, really needs the option built in not to have that, or please get rid of it in a future release. I want to think about blogging, not menus. Thank you.

Not gonna happen. Individual users already have the option to remove it by going to Users -> Profile.

And as you've found, admins with sites with multiple users have an easy filter to remove it completely.

The admin bar changes the layout and design of the site. That option and level of control should be in the hands of the admin, not the individual user.

The admin bar changes the layout and design of the site.

If that happens, then that's a bug. Please give a specific example.
