Description
I am using Wordpress 3.1.1 and I have several "draft" posts that have accidently gotten scheduled, but I cannot see anyway to remove the schedule. Can you please add a small link under the schedule section that says "unschedule", and have it remove the schedule? right now I am having to manually change the date to way in the future so it does not accidently go live. Then when I am ready to make the post live, I have to manually change the date to something in the past. This does not happen very often, but it is frustrating when it does.
Thanks
Ryan

Actually thats not true. The post is already set to draft (their is no scheduled status), yet the post is still scheduled. I have attached two images showing what I see. Their is no way to unschedule this post.

If a post status is set to draft, it is not "scheduled." It will not go live on the date listed in the "schedule on" box. That's just the date entered for the post.

If you look at the edit.jpg image, right above the date box it says "Schedule for: Mar 11, 2012 @ 11:38"
If this is truly not scheduled, then that text needs to be changed, it is very deceiving.

Another side effect of this is that when I finally do publish the post, it will set the date to what is in that box. So if I am not paying attention, and the date is way in the past. My post date is wrong. If I change the date after is it published, then all the sites that have linked to me will also be wrong. I just need a way to blank out this date, so I can go back to "Publish Immediately"

- Keywords needs-patch added
- Summary changed from Unschedule a post to Unset Post Date when Changing from Scheduled to Draft
- Type changed from defect (bug) to enhancement
In that case, what you want to do is have the post date become unset when you change a post status from scheduled to draft. That makes more sense, and would be an enhancement rather than a bug ... but that does make sense.

Well, partially that is true, As you can see from my images their isn't a schedule status in my list. So how would I go from schedule to draft? I assume I would have to click the schedule button to actually schedule the post, then change it back to draft. That seems like more steps than necessary. Since I never scheduled the post, I never clicked the schedule button, I should have an option to just remove the date.
I tested this, and I end up in this situation by setting a date and clicking the "OK" button. This seems to be a middle ground with no easy way out. Either I have to click the "schedule" button and switch back to draft, or set the date way in the future and hope for the best.
In the end I just want the "Publish" button to come back so I can publish immediately.
Thanks for your patience while I hashed this out.

- Keywords needs-patch removed
- Resolution set to duplicate
- Status changed from new to closed
Um ... in both the Quick Edit screen and on the Edit Post page you have the ability to change the post status from Scheduled to Draft. That's how you "unschedule" without manually changing the date.
Suggest closing as wontfix or worksforme
