Cannot revert to 2-column layout in post edit using screen options

Description
Using rev 17906 from trunk.
When adding/editing a post or page. Go to screen options and select one column under Screen Layout. Looks great! Now you wanna go back to the 2-column layout? It tries, but fails - only showing me a one-column layout with a blank space for the second column.
There's no way to revert back to the proper two column layout that I've found so far.
