Responding to each:

  1. The bold dark text is the "on state" for submenus. If people feel it is too subtle, we could explore a new submenu on state, but it should not have the same on state as the top level menu items, as it breaks the visual hierarchy.
  1. That indicator means you're in this section, not that you are on the landing screen. That's why the sections have a first item that is the landing screen, so the hierarchy is maintained.
  1. The arrow points from the navigation into the working area, the forward interaction flow. Pointing it backwards would reverse the meaning, and make it more like the new feature popup in facebook or gmail, where our active area would hierarchically seem to be a description instead of the other way around.

Closing wontfix for the reasons above. If you want to suggest an alternate submenu on state, please open a new ticket specific to that one suggestion. (In general, each ticket should have one thing, not three, to make trac management easier.)
