Random words smush together using built in past button for word w upgrade to WP 3.2.1

After upgrading to WordPress 3.2.1, I started to have words jam together when I imported from Word 2003 using the built in paste button for Word. I haven't had this problem for the last 3 years that I've been writing Denver Cereal. It started with the upgrade. It seems to be both random and specific

For example:

“I’ll talk toAden,”Sandysaid. “But I don’t see why not.”

The conversion specifically doesn't seem to like the word 'Sandy' or any other capitalized S. It doesn't do it every time her name comes up. Outside of the word 'Sandy,'the word smushing appears random: brownLaboradorpuppy was the one I fixed this morning.

Given the depth of this program, I realize this seems like a small error. However I write serial fiction and publish via the WordPress blogs. I frequently post over 10,000 words from word to various sites a week. All of my updated blogs are having this issue. The error is an enormous problem for me. I host at DreamHost which is a Wordpress friendly host.

I've unsuccessfully tried:

  1. Disabling all to the plugins.
  2. Activating the most updated Twenty Eleven theme
  3. Using a different browser (I use Chrome)
  4. Copying directly into the post
  5. Posting this to Wordpress Support Forums for ideas. Outside of 'copy to a text editor then into wp', there were no real suggestions.

The only thing that appeared to work was posting on to my publisher's blog before it had been updated to 3.2.1.

Again, this is a total nightmare for me. I've been using WP since around 2004 and never had this kind of sorrow. Please help!

Thanks for your help!

Replying to scribu: Thanks for fixing my ticket! :) Of course, it's critical to ME! but you're right, it's probably normal to the rest of the world.

Thanks again!

Oh, if fixing bugs was as easy as changing the component...

No, it's not fixed until a commit is made and this ticket is closed.

It's not :"( But I will keep up posted!

Thanks again. It's nice to have a place where someone says, 'yeah, that's a problem'

By the way, it would be useful if you could upload a sample word document that consistently causes problems.

Great suggestion. I've attached a copy of Denver Cereal chapter 163 & 164. I posted them to three WP updated blogs - denvercereal.com (in pieces), storiesbyclaudia.com & on-a-limb.com (in chapter form). Same problem all around. I posted 163 last week. Hoping the issue would magically be resolved, I didn't post a big fix. Same problem w posting 164 this week.

Of course, if this is something on my end, I'm delighted to what I can. What I saw was that BANG it happened on the upgrade. And randomly my pubs was out of town so didn't upgrade & I didn't have the problem.

Could you see if the same problem exists in TinyMCE's latest version here http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/tryit/full.php

There were some problems with the Word cleanup script reported before, not sure if all were fixed.

Thank you for your help azaozz. Since I'm hosting with DreamHost shared server, I'm not sure what TinyMCE they are using. I've submitted a support ticket to ask and will let you know. They seem to be really on their game there, so I think it's probably up to date. But again, I'll let you know.

Thank you again! I do appreciate the help!

Replying to claudiahchristian:

TinyMCE is the WordPress Visual editor and comes bundled with WP. There is a newer version of it at the above URL (their demo page). There you can test if pasting the Word files works properly in that newer version (unfortunately I don't use/have Word so can't test myself).

Oh thanks @azaozz. I can't every keep the server stuff straight.

I copied it into the TinyMCE you kindly gave me and the words still smush around 'S' or Sandy and other random words.

Sorry, I felt a brush of hope... only to be dashed again! :"(

Thank you for your generous help! :)
