#1829 closed enhancement (wontfix)

Assign categories to images

When we upload an image, it will be nice the ability to assign them to categories. Currently, images are automatically assigned to "General" category. I think that now this is more easy to implement, because images are "object" posts. Another good option will be create a new section to manage "object" posts.

Isn't this the same as storing images in directories (or albums)? It can be useful, but need some more thinking. As far as I can see, it is already possible to manage the uploads in the admin.

Uploads aren't listed anywhere on the blog frontend therefore categorisation is superfluous. If uploads were to be listed along with posts in category listings for example, then yes it would be ideal to be able to specify a category, but the only place uploads are shown to the public is when they're linked to from a page/post.

Categorisation of uploads for the purpose of managing uploads on the backend is another matter, and one which could be discussed in a new ticket is need be.

I propose to close as WONTFIX.
