The WordPress Object Cache supports pretty much every memory cache you can throw at it, through it's extendable API.

Memcached support is available in this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/memcached/ and there is a plugin for every other variant out there.

There's even a caching plugin that stores the generated HTML pages in memcache (or any other object cache): http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/batcache/

There's nothing else to do for the core support here.
