Enable media library access from blogroll

Currently WordPress doesn't give you the option to easily add images from your WordPress plugin to your blogroll items (links). I just released a plugin to do that (​http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/blogroll-media-library-image/) and was told this would be a good one to add to core.

I would love to add a diff-file, but I have no idea how to do this.

I like this idea, and I think it would be easier to implement if an when links/blogroll is moved to a post type.

We've been talking about getting rid of Links and just making it a custom menu or something. I think this can stay a plugin either way.
