Description
The resulting layout using the homepage template widget area with a TON of widgets is pretty terrible.
Screenshot attached.
It's been suggested before (can't find the reference now) to use 2 or 3 columns instead, so they widgets line up better and users have more control over the layout.
Easiest way to do this is to split it into two widget areas.

- Keywords has-patch added; needs-patch removed
21619.diff uses the same basic logic as Twenty Eleven does, but since we're only dealing with two widget areas it's a bit simpler.
