#22999 closed defect (bug) (wontfix)

The position of the cursor is ignored when inserting media in DFW and Text mode (IE)

Description

When editing a post in IE8/IE9 in either full screen mode or in text mode, media is always inserted at the top of the post when regardless of where the cursor is positioned prior to opening the "Add Media" modal. I suspect that IE7 is also affected, but I have not tested it.

While this is still an issue in IE 8 (just tested) and probably in IE 9 too, it's November 2015 now and wondering if it's worth it. Old IEs have a different way to retrieve and store (or, better, don't store) the caret position compared to modern browsers. Also, the old DFW doesn't exist anymore and the new one (disabled for IE 8) is basically the visual editor where inserting an image works correctly.
I'd propose to close this ticket but will defer the final decision to @azaozz :)
