Description
Recently had an account made for me by a client with the username "Eric Lewis" - I was surprised that is legal in WordPress.
I'm not exactly against it, but it is abnormal behavior compared to the majority of the web, where white space is not allowed in usernames.

- Resolution set to wontfix
- Status changed from new to closed
Not necessarily a suggestion, just a topic to bring up I didn't see in any other trac tickets.
Doesn't sound like a feature request to me, more like an enhancement breaking backwards compatibility. What the benefit would be though?
Backwards compatibility wouldn't be an issue since we're validating on new username registration, correct me if I'm wrong.
There wouldn't be any benefit other than adhering to some vague standards. I'll close as wontfix.

TracTickets for help on using

So, the suggestion is to remove the space from the list of allowed characters?
