Can't access the Themes item on the Appearance menu on dashboard

Description
This has been a problem since upgrading WordPress to 3.8.
If I click the menu item I get taken directly to the log in page.
This is a problem with Safari. It doesn't happen if I use Chrome.
I think i *have* seen the theme page, but whatever has happened is now permanent.
