#2741 closed defect (bug) (worksforme)

categories and subcategories

Given the following tree with the number of posts in parenthesis:

- root (1)
  - cat1 (0)
    - cat11 (1)
  - cat2 (1)

One would expect WordPress to understand:

- root (3)
  - cat1 (1)
    - cat11 (1)
  - cat2 (1)

WordPress seems to understand:

- root (1)
  - cat1 (0)
  - cat2 (1)

  • Keywords category added
  • Resolution set to worksforme
  • Status changed from new to closed

This behavior seems to have been fixed. As of [5012], if you create a category hierarchy as shown, and put posts only in cat2 and cat11, and use the function call

in your sidebar, you will get exactly what is shown as the "expected" behavior above.

Since the deprecated functions list_cats and wp_list_cats both now call wp_list_categories, I think they should work too (though I didn't specifically test them). If there is another function for listing categories that needs to be fixed, perhaps this ticket can be re-opened.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
