Description
I just found some strange behaviour when creating a new page (domain.com/faq)on a fresh install (3.8.2, though I could not choose this in trac) with 2014 theme, zero plugins.
- The page is created and visible
- Any child of this page (domain.com/faq/child) is created, but when viewing gives a 404 error.
- When I change the slug in 2-characters or 4 or more (domain.com/fa / or /faqs etc), the subpages do work and show.
- When I make the 3-character subpage child of another first level page (domain.com/longslug/faq), then the subpages (domain.com/longslug/faq/child) work
While writing, I noticed that another 3-character page (domain.com/tes) worked normally, i.e. the children show up. So only domain.com/faq is causing problems (or are there more 'protected' pages?.
Cheers, Bike

Hi John,
sorry about that. I had flushed permalinks, then deactivated all plugins and problem persisted. After flushing again, with all plugins inactive, problem went. Apologies for the invalid ticket.
Note: See

Hi Bike,
Do you have a plugin or some other code on your site that's adding a custom post type for FAQs in addition to your FAQ page? If so, there will be a clash.
Or, have you had such a plugin in place in the past? If so, you may have some stale rewrite rules on your site. Try visiting the Settings -> Permalinks screen and hitting the Save button. This will flush the rewrite rules.
As this isn't a core issue I'm going to close off this ticket. If the above suggestion doesn't fix the issue, please try the support forums.
