Description
I have galleries that were created before WordPress started specifying the corresponding media's IDs in the gallery shortcode (defaults to showing whatever media's attached to that post/page). It seems this WordPress 3.9 update makes it so it also shows all unattached images in addition to the media that's attached to the post/page (both in the preview and when going into editing the gallery).
I've tested this on two separate sites running 3.9 with unattached images in the media library and gallery tags without IDs specified. It was an issue for both.
It wouldn't be that bad if the editor only showed the attached media so that updating it would then fill out the correct IDs, but it simply isn't working at some part of the process where it gets the associated images.
I can provide more details if needed. Thanks for checking into this little bug!

Hi KZeni, we're having trouble reproducing this. Could you try deactivating all plugins and see if you can still reproduce?
I expect we would have received other reports on this, especially if the bug is also appearing "when going into editing the gallery".

Ah, a single site running 3.9 with no plugins & the default theme doesn't appear to experience this issue (same goes for multi-sites/networks). Also, disabling all plugins on the troubled sites resolved the issue.
I'll look into identifying what's the cause.

Ok, simply disabling WordPress SEO (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/) fixed the issue, and so it appears to be unrelated to the WordPress itself.
I've reported this bug to the developer of that plugin (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/gallery-previews-include-unattached-images-confirmed?replies=1#post-5483663).
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Thanks for the report, KZeni.
