Ensure Atom compatibility? We're compatible right now.

We track created and issued as the same thing. Just because it's possible to have a field for everything doesn't mean we should. If we don't already put modified dates in the feed we should.

"also". They will also provide more functionality. What is the difference for example when editing a entry or editing the entry and editing the date? If you change the date, might that change the permalink?

I think there are perfectly valid reasons to follow the above.
