Description

Hello

I am thinking about the contact form all the WordPress site are using contact form and its third party plugin.

So i am thinking if wordpress provide in build contact form then no need to add extra plugin and all basic site are using third party plugin for the contact us.

Many Thanks

Good idea, but being a guy who's sees contact forms get made on the daily, there are so many ways people want to do this that I think it's best to allow people to have lots of options using plugins or theme-based contact forms.

  • Type changed from enhancement to feature request

I agree with aubreypwd that this should probably stay plugin territory.

I wonder if this is something where it'd be beneficial for Core to provide a common architecture for plugins, and maybe even a very simple form that would meet the basic needs (e.g., just fields for name, email, and message, and submissions are saved to the DB and emailed to the site admin).

That way a large number of people wouldn't need to install any plugin, which would improve the experience for new users. People who want more options can still install plugins to get them. When they do use plugins, the core data would be portable between them, since it'd use a common architecture.
