Description
There are no Texas cities in the dropdown list of time zones in the general settings of the WordPress basic setup.
In fact, there are no Central Time Zone cities at all.
If a state is represented, then we can be sure that the time zone responds correctly to Daylight Saving Time in that state. For example, Phoenix is sometimes different from Denver in Mountain Time Zone.
Including Houston and/or Dallas (St. Louis? Oklahoma City, Omaha?) in the list would give me confidence that I don't have to remember to go in and change the time six months from now. Even "Central Time Zone with DST" would be more accurate than UTC -6.
I understand that it's a long list, but the US Central Time Zone is a wide swath not to be represented.
Thanks.

Hey janvbear, thanks for the report!
The PHP manual shows America/Chicago as a choice for the Central timezone. It's possible you could be on a system without this however.
At the heart of it, this isn't something created exclusively by WordPress, but rather is the Olson timezone database. We don't generally add new timezones to this ourselves, as IANA/ICANN are responsible for adding new timezones there, and they do a pretty good job of keeping it current.
It's possible that the timezone in Texas could diverge in the future, in which case I'd expect them to add a new timezone to accommodate that. I don't believe they add new timezones unless this happens, but you may be able to suggest adding Texas-specific timezones.
