Is there some sort of inspector tool available whereby you could see what DOM element that even belongs to?

@markjaquith Yep. IE has it's own inspector and developer tools (f12). It evaded my initial investigation.

I suspect it's on the iframe.

Which version of IE is this? Don't see the border in native IE11 and 8, and in emulated 9 and 10.

@azaozz It was in IE 9-11. I'll double check tonight to see if it's still there.
