Featured image can be set/removed without saving

Description

I've noticed that i can click "remove featured image" and NOT save the post and it will still remove it.
The same way i can set a featured image and again not save the changes and close the editor and it will still keep it.

The behavior i expect is: Don't save any changes on the post unless i click "update post".

I don't know if this is intended, but i consider it a bug. All changes made on the editor should be discarded if i leave without saving.
