Description
Is it possible to add global categories ala wordpress.com. There is a hack/plugin available however for this being essentially a community application it seems that this function should be part of the core framework with perhaps a admin disable feature in the site admin tools.
Having this in the site would also allow using the search widget to search the entire site as opposed to just the blog.

Global categories at wordpress.com unifies the categories of many blogs. How you mean to apply that to WordPress is a mystery and you do not cite a specific plugin. This does not work as a feature request.
