Description
Hi! Author/User pages in WordPress are from the dark ages and badly need some changes.
Firstly, the public URL shows the email or login username in it (which is a security hazard), and I can't see any way to fix that other than installing yet another plugin (https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/edit-author-slug?filter=5). Author URL's should be able to be customized on the user's page.
Secondly, author pages should have their bio, photo, links, etc at the top of the page.
Thirdly, it should be allowable to have multiple authors (or at least two) for a post.
Change History (2)
Note: See
TracTickets for help on using
tickets.
First of all, usernames are considered public information, not private. Leveraging the username for the permalinks makes sense as it never changes. A change to the user profile data shouldn't invalidate a previously correct url. See also #5864.
Second, styling author pages is something the theme needs to do.
Third, supporting multiple authors has been asked for multiple times (see #3419 for example) and is not considered to be something worth adding to core. Instead, use a plugin for this.
