Description
Hi all
A bit of an idea here to help the translation of plugins (/ themes )
Let's add a link to the translation page on glotpress to each plug on the plugin page right next to the active / deactivate links
Rules (suggestions):
Show only on non eng(US) (maybe)
Link to the translation page for the current lang
Query glotpress to get the % done (hide if complete) / show as complete (just for the current site lang)
if we show on eng(US) we should overall stats
Happy to do the WP code but I don't know what the endpoints we have on glotpress to talk to.
Paul

If I am not mistaken, but there is already a link to translate plugin/theme on .org. Or are you referring to something else?

If we do this we can provide supporting functions
show_translation_link( $lang = current )
get_translation_link( $lang = current )
so that plugin devs use common functions

Yes I want it on the plugin page in the admin
Maybe with a treatment I bit like upgrade available is treated
e.g. pulling the link from .org to local site

As much as I'd like for plugin authors to get more translation contributors, I don't think the Translate links on the Plugins screen would be appropriate for regular users, who might consider it unnecessary clutter.
For those who do want to contribute, the links in the plugins/themes directory seem more suitable, and the number of contributors has already increased greatly since those links were added.
This might also increase the load for GTEs (global translation editors) on the Polyglots team, who now have to validate thousands more strings than before, and don't always have the resources for that.

Plugin authors are adding links to their plugins both on the author page and options pages.
I feel this is effort to standardize would worth even if we make off by default

part of the thinking here that we are asking plugin authors to ask their users to help translate using glotpress so each developer is going to do this a different way
If we just do it, it's done once and this will save a lot of extra work and mixed UI experience
easy to have a filter to disable ( or enable )
