Description

Hi Team -
Would like to make feature request. Everytime when I enter new link - I've to click "gear icon" which opens popup with option "Open link in a new tab".

By default - it's unchecked. Can we have that option pre-checked or un-checked based on last user preference?

Thanks.

  • Milestone Awaiting Review deleted
  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Having links open in a new window/tab is generally discouraged and pretty bad for accessibility. This was also discussed here: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2016/03/28/the-editor-in-wordpress-4-5/#comment-29560.

In that terms I don't think we will be adding this in core. It can be added by a plugin if some users have a valid case for always using it.
