There is a PHP notice in customize, when we hide the header image. As shown in the screenshot below.

Twenty Seventeen is being developed ​on GitHub and is not yet part of WordPress core. Please submit all bugs and feature requests there.

Also, it looks like it has already been ​reported and a fix is [ ​https://github.com/WordPress/twentyseventeen/pull/61 available].
