Description

WordPress doesn't have any inbuilt options framework for enhancement of theme options and features. There should be an inbuilt option or theme framework in WordPress core, So Developers can create different type of theme options and setting pages on the fly as per requirements.

It will not only make rich themes but greater extent of satisfaction for theme developers. They can use official option framework instead of looking any other options.

Hi lpkapil008,
thank you for your ticket. I was wondering, why the Customizer does not count as such an framework?

Hi websupporter ,

I understand your point. But my concern is customizer can be considered as theme customization api, But it does not support rich features like, we can create drag and drop page builder using customizer api. There should be an highly configurable and rich theme framework.

The foundation for this is being laid by the Fields API project: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2015/05/27/metadata-api-project-reborn-the-new-fields-api-project/

You can follow along with its development using the fields-api tag on Make WordPress Core.
