Description (last modified by )
The overwrite parameter of the XMLRPC method wp.uploadFile seems to be ignored, files are never overwritten in WordPress 4.6.1. If the file already exists, a - plus a number starting with 1 is appended when uploaded again.
This has already been an issue some time ago (#17604), then got fixed but was reintroduced in WordPress 4.4 according to this support thread: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/xmlrpc-uploadfile-overwrite/

Replying to desrosj:
My apologies that it took so long to receive a response.
Well, I don't use WordPress anymore these days... (cue: Hugo)
You are correct that [34578] removed support for this parameter, but I am not able to find where it was re-added. Are you able to help me by pointing to where it was re-added?
Nope. I did a quick search (google) but couldn't find any relevant changes...
Marking as a
closecandidate, as it appears support foroverwritewas never re-added.
Maybe it was never re-added and I got it wrong (I only thought so because of this support thread opened by @demienyu). As far as I'm concerned, you can close this ticket.
Best regards!
