I can confirm the issue.

We'd likely have to fix this with some JavaScript, similar to what's been done in the newer default themes. Worth noting there isn't really a change in the menu on smaller screen sizes – it stays the same, so it should be straightforward. That said, given the age of the theme, this is a low priority.

    1 On a site running Twenty Ten, tapping the top level menu item opens that page, rather than opening that item's child menu items and waiting for something to be selected.
