Description
The latest theme “Twenty Seventeen” uses an outdated version of the font “Libre Franklin”. In particular, it does not incorporate the latest version which fixes some problems with quotation marks in italic text. For instance, the character “ is not rendered correctly in this font when using the Twenty Seventeen theme. See the attached screenshot for text that illustrates the problem.
The latest version of this font is available on Github. It seems that some Webfont providers such as Google Fonts do not provide an up-to-date version of this font yet.

IMHO we shouldn't switch away from the Google Hosted version; does anyone have a contact with Google to get it updated perhaps?

Thanks for the report @goetzf!

Agreed. Eventually, it should be updated. But the advantages of using Google Fonts far outweigh having to wait for updates.
Closing this ticket since the update will come through Google Fonts.
