We are trying to prepare for 4.8 release but latest commits are missing from GitHub.

The wordpress/wordpress repo is currently maintained by @markjaquith. He has to update the authors file for our new committers. I'll ping him again about this.

In the meantime (but also for the future) I suggest to use the official git mirror: git://core.git.wordpress.org/
