Description

It would be nice to include any visual media element as a featured image. Meaning one could add a video, a gif, a png etc.

I would love to see the use cases for this. I haven't seen this get asked for much, which doesn't mean it's not something could be needed. I do wonder if we're adding something for the minority here though?

How many themes also could potentially break? How bad would performance be on a page of featured videos? There are also accessibility and usability concerns here.

My initial thought was that a featured image/video would be seen before the excerpt.
As a way to showcase the post.

Perhaps as a way to have a page filled with featured videos and some text and a read more/etc in a kind of latest posts block.
