Description
The Twenty Eleven theme has a search box that has white font on a white background when the cursor is in the box. So you cannot see the text when typing in the search box, but it becomes visible again when the cursor is moved outside of the box. I am using the Free version of WordPress so I am unable to apply any css options to the page. This occurs with Firefox on Linux or Windows 10 as well as Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge (both without any ad-dons). The default needs to either change the background or the font color to anything other than white which will add contrast to be able to have the search entry visible when typing.
I'm just using the built-in editing capabilities of the online WordPress website so I am unaware what version it is.

Hello, We are all here on our free time contributing, so yes there is monitoring but the replying / patching time varies from ticket to ticket depending on any given contributors time that wants to take a look ( like I did today ).
To the ticket. I just installed Twenty Eleven on a fresh WordPress installation and all 3 search boxes that I'm aware of are looking fine on my end.
White background with gray #888
color when not focused and #373737
darker gray when focused.
I'm not sure if there's another search box somewhere that I'm missing at the moment. Are you sure you don't have any extra css code anywhere or browser addon that alters your theme / ui ?

I am a retired developer and so I really do appreciate you looking into this.
I could use CSS if I pay for an upgrade theme, but this theme doesn't allow it. The only search box I'm aware for this theme is to the right of the main menu options near the top of the page. I can type in the search box but it just has a white font on white background and so the characters being type is not visible. When I change the focus to anywhere else on the page, the background changes back to a slightly darker color, allowing what I had typed to appear.
This problem occurs on my Linux box using firefox, on 2 other PC Windows 10 using firefox and by other people on their own systems. So I don't think it's anything I have configured.
I appreciate that if you cannot duplicate the problem, then you won't be able to fix it.

Hey @ehlersjw, just want to clarify, since you mention upgrading — are you seeing this on a self-hosted WordPress install or on WordPress.com?

Hello @ocean90. This IS a bug and should be corrected. The "Search" window in the Twenty Eleven Theme has the font color as white with a background of white whenever the focus is in the search box. It's ok when the focus is anywhere else in the page. This theme does not allow css to override the colors. Check it out at http://tahlequahcameraclub.wordpress.com and see for yourself. Type something in the Search Box near the top to the right of the menus options.

I can't seem to get a search bar to appear within my navigation menu on Twenty Eleven anymore, so this looks like it might be a bug specific to WordPress.com. I'd recommend posting it on https://en.support.wordpress.com/, as @ocean90 suggested.

How would posting this on the support page help? Not sure where to post it there. Is this not the right place to post it since it appears to be a bug in the Twenty Eleven theme? Has anyone checked our webpage at http://tahlequahcameraclub.wordpress.com to verify the problem of white on white text while in the Search Box?
I need to check another theme to see if it still has the problem.

@ehlersjw There is a difference between the .ORG and .COM you can check https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ and you can freely ask in the https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes forums for extra help as your website is hosted on WordPress.com.
To help a bit further there is extra CSS generated in your HTML <head>
part, to be more specific <style type="text/css" id="custom-colors-css">
just before the closing </head>
tag. This overrides the default colors that are set from the style.css
of the theme.
That was somehow generated there and I can't be sure how (maybe you have fiddled with custom colors ? ), but it is not from the theme as a default installation.
I can't make a search bar appear on my menu as well as @melchoyce mentioned so maybe the fellows over WordPress.com have extra things going on in Twenty Eleven that I can't be sure of.

Replying to melchoyce:
I can't seem to get a search bar to appear within my navigation menu on Twenty Eleven
I can. Just uncheck "Display Site Title and Tagline".
And as @xkon says, the site uses custom colors that modify the theme.
@ehlersjw Try the [Get help]
button on the support page at WordPress.COM. There is no such bug, as described, in the Twenty Eleven theme https://wordpress.com/theme/twentyeleven
Please do not reopen. You can still comment.
This is 6 months old and has not had any response. Does anyone monitor these tickets? This is a bug and should be an easy fix.
