#43143 closed enhancement (invalid)

Have smaller radius in which to find MeetUps.

To me, MeetUps in the UK are suggested while having my location point to Utrecht, the Netherlands. There are some MeetUps in the near future in the Netherlands I would rather have those suggested.

Hey @roelv and welcome to Trac.

It looks like in this instance it's not showing you events near Utrecht, but rather near your IP location which is most likely showing up as UK based upon the results you're seeing.

The Utrecht text you're seeing there, is instead simply a localised example of a location you could search for, based upon your translations.

Shot 2018-01-22 at 10.10.48 pm.png is an example of what I see - the example text shown is Sydney however if I was to search for Brisbane (as i've done) the text above it references that location.

And finally, for reference, the code for the API is 100km for meetups, and 400km for WordCamps.

Does it show you what you'd expect if you search for your location?
If you'd be comfortable, are you willing to share your IP address? (Just replace the final digits with .x, ie. 103.25.58.x) as that's what it's probably using at present to incorrectly identify your location.

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

Ah, that does clarify things. It indeed works if I search manually.
