Hi @hershb1,

This appears to be a problem with your hosting environment - MySQL server has gone away specifically means that the MySQL server has "hung up" on WordPress mid-pageload. If that is happening often it generally indicates that MysQL is overloaded.

If you're still experiencing this, you'll need to contact your host to have them have a look at it for you.

I'm closing this as invalid as it isn't immediately obviously a core issue, but rather a server/hosting environment specific issue.
