I've also removed the `$data_to_anonymize` param since it became unused. 2 2 3 If we want to be able to anonymize IP addresses by truncating them, we can extract the function from the Community Events dashboard widget https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/4.9.4/src/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-community-events.php#L210 a sreuse it. Then there will be no need for truncated IPs for comments.
