To match terminology better with the GDPR which is the biggest privacy law soon to be in effect, and which refers to "Right to Erasure"

Confirming in chat: We want to generally use the terms "erase"/"erasure" and this is the right approach forward, @allendav. Here's @idea15's quote from Slack:
Yes - this is a case where the term is very niche to this particular point of law, as opposed to being generic. Also "erasure" helps differentiate from "right to be forgotten", which is the most misinterpreted and misrepresented point of data protection law.
